THE TRI STATE TORNADO OF 1925
The Tri State Tornado h1925 hit the three states Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. It hit on March18, 1925. It was on the list of the Ten Worst Disasters in The Last 101 Years. In fact, it was an F5. It destroyed about 15,000 homes and killed about 700 people, injured 2000, and cost these states about 18 million (1925) dollars. It was the longest and deadliest tornado on record. It ripped through missouri, indiana, and illinois for about 3.5 hours and went through 219 miles. At the time that the tornado hit, the word "tornado" was not recognized by the U.S Weather Bureau . They were so unpredictable that weather forecasters weren't allowed to aknowledge that they were real in public. The Bureau thought that if the weather people predicted them, it would only spread panic among the community. (

The tri state tornado of 1925 was the beggining of a new era in storm this a picture of 3 men in the aftermath of the tornado

Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma, said that this tornado
brought tornado warniings to the United States. Nobody saw it coming because
they were too unpredictable. People just stopped forecasting them. When the
storm hit, the U.S. thought it necessary to start discovering ways to track
HOW TORNADOES FORM
Tornadoes start when a huge thunder storm creates a mesocyclone, which turns it into a supercell. Then a downdrift from the rear caused by rainfall, makes the mesocyclone spin faster and drag it to the ground. As the mesocyclone is reaching the ground, the downdrift also touches down and causes damage around the tornado. The mesocyclone (now a funnel cloud) touches down after the down drift does and is officially a tornado when it does touch down.
Tornado Safety
During a tornado, you can do the following:
-
Seek shelter in a basement, if possible, under a strong table.
-
If its not possible to go to a basement, go to a small room in the center of the house away from windows.
-
The most important thing is to get under something, like a desk or bed.
-
If you are at schools, churches,or other public places, go to the designated shelter area. Do not stay in a car.
-
If you are driving, drive away from the storm at a right angle. Try to park under a low bridge. Get out of the car and lie in a low ditch.

Story Of Being Inside A Tornado
One day while riding my bike in the evening down a street in my country like neighborhood, I saw a flash in a sky. I didnt mind it so i went on with riding my bike. Then i heard a crackle of thunder, so I got a little nervous. I saw another strike of lightning, so I started to pettle faster. Soon after that the sky started started to darken and rain started to fall. I got very scared so i pettled even faster. The rain fell harder, hail started to fall down, more lightning struck, more thunder crackled, and the sky suddenly became black. I turned around to see if their was anything behind me, but as soon as turned around a hailstone smacked me dead in the face. I turned back around and I saw a swirling cloud in the sky. So I started to panic because I knew it was tornado. About 5 minutes later it hit the ground and I felt the winds blowing right behind me. I looked behind me and saw the tornado catching up to me. It was thick and took down anything that was in it's way and it I don't get out of it's way i'll be toast. I pettled as fast as fast as I could, but the faster I went the quicker it caught up. I went faster and faster ,but suddenly my bike started to lift off the ground a little bit. I looked up and saw that the tornado had pulled me off the ground and I was being sucked into it. I was fully in the tornado and about 2 minutes later I went flying a length of like 100 feet. Luckily I lived and my bike was messed up so I had to walk home. When I got home I told my mom the whole story about the tornado.
THE END
