What is a Tornado?
Before we even begin to learn about the Storm Of The Century is we have to learn what a Tornado is.
A Tornado is a rotating column of air, from a cumulonimbus cloud, and is often called a"funnel cloud"
Now back to the scheduled program
This is the storm of the Century taken with a sattellite. As you can see from the picture it raged all along the east coast of the U.S. and Canada .The Storm of the Century, also known as the’93 Superstorm, No-Name Hurricane, theWhite Hurricane, or the Great Blizzard of 1993, was a large cyclone storm that hit North America from March 12-March 15, 1993, on the East Coast of North America. Areas as southern as Alabama and Georgia received over a foot of snow in areas such as Birmingham, Alabama, received up to 16 inches withother reports of 20 inches. During Friday March 12, temperatures over much of the eastern United States began to fall quickly. The area of low pressure rapidly intensified during the day on Friday and moved onto northwestern Florida and arrived that Saturday morning as this happened snow began to spread over the eastern United States. There were 11 tornadoes from the storm, there were 3 F2's, 3F1's, and 6 F0's. The storm caused 11 storms across Florida turning over mobile homes, and killing 44 people. On March 14th 70 records were set for lowest temperatures, and 75 more the next day . The Storm was so bad it caused 270 people to die, 48 missing at sea, canceled 25% if all U.S flights and caused from $6 billion - $10 billion dollars worth of damages. The stoms affect could've been worse if it wasn't for newly developed weather technology , the weather stations were alerted of the storm 5 days in advance and were able to let out major storm warnings 2 days in advance, and what the expected damage it would do, and in return states like Newyork, and Massachusetts devlared states of emergency before it even began to snow.

In Asheville North Carolina the Snowfall was so heavy trees fell over.
During the storm of the century 2.5 million were left without power.
The storm affeted 26 states over half the countries population at that time.
